Petko has tried to help me with this, but I cannot get it to work.

When I try to preview an Excel file, it doesn't work. Word files work fine, but not Excel.

Has anyone gotten the Excel preview to work correctly with the following config?

Win7Pro
Office 2010 Pro

Did you have to make any registry changes to get this to work?

I too would really like to be able to change the colour of the interface. I'm not sure what "look" I would like, but for photo viewing applications, I really do like the neutral grey interfaces. They seem to be easy on the eye, are not distracting, and do not distort colours.
