Suggestions for improved use in research environments

I have used MyInfo for my personal projects and work since 2011. Recently I began to find it invaluable in my work as a research analyst and I have a number of suggestions for improvements. 1. Clarifying use of drag and drop vs “ATTACHMENTS” feature. There’s some confusion about: 1. dragging and dro...

Re: MyInfo and Evernote

Hi Telesto, Thanks for your input and advice. That sounds like a good workflow to convert my data. But like you, I'm guessing that my MyInfo database has so many notes, nested hierarchies, that I'm guessing that exporting all of it would become an unbearable headache. In MyInfo, if I export to webpa...

Re: MyInfo and Evernote

I would really like to see a way to export to markdown or html format so that I can get data out of MyInfo and into Trilium or Joplin. Currently, there does not seem to be an easy way to do this. To me, MyInfo is the very best of the PIM tools (with MyBase a close second), but it no longer runs reli...

Re: Native Linux version

Good points Telesto, thanks! Undoubtedly, the best solution is a native Linux build. A secondary solution will be a version that functions perfectly in WINE. I used MyInfo 6 in WINE in Linux for years and it ran perfectly. Quite ironically, MyInfo 7, design for ease of cross-platform deployment, run...

Re: Native Linux version

Thanks Telesto, I don't want to pester Petko too much about this. I mainly hope to attract the attention of other Linux users or potential users to show there is a definite need and a market niche. The compatibility problem with MyInfo 7 and WINE and chromium is making it impossible for me to seriou...

Native Linux version

Hi! I've been an avid user of MyInfo for many years now. When version 7 was released, I enthusiastically bought a licence knowing that it was based on new cross-platform architecture. While version 7 does work in WINE, it has many problems compared to version 6. Please consider releasing a native Li...

abiltiy to add keywords to sections of text

Hi!, MyInfo 7 has some new powerful tools that I'm just beginning to explore. However, there is one feature I've requested many times over the years: ability to add keywords to sections of text This would enable users to code sections of text in any document with various keywords and allow MyInfo to...

Re: A few questions on the ver. 7 and cross platform functionality

If MyInfo goes to a SaaS (software as a service) model for yearly rent, I will most definitely stop using it and move to MyBase which has had a powerful cross-platform client. Open source solutions are quite weak at the moment. I am happy to pay for good software, but I greatly dislike the idea of r...

Thanks very much Tester!

You've certainly done a lot of testing on MyInfo and contributed much to the forms. Thanks!

Re: new feature: PROJECTS

Very good discussion here on tags vs. hierarchical ordering in trees. I have to reiterate again the suggestions I made several years ago. I feel these features would greatly improve user's ability to use MyInfo so sort and to find information and bring it closer to functioning as a qualitative data ...

Re: Ribbon bar?

I too am not a fan of ribbon toolbars. I really can't understand exactly what type of advantage they are supposed to bring for the user of desktops systems. With ribbon menus, the menu items constantly change and I have to search endlessly for the function I want. In addition, they rely too heavily ...

Re: Upgrade to version 7?

This is indeed very good news. I've been waiting for v7 for quite some time. A cross platform version will be popular I'm sure. I'll do what I can to introduce it to a wider audience and write a review on my blog about software useful to social science researchers at http://www.ambrosi.ca/gear-equip...

Re: Trouble Pasting

Wow.. That is exactly the same problem I was having last year. I thought it was because my Windows 7 installation was corrupted. I was using Webroot too and had very similar problems but was never able to find a solution. I am now running Win 8.1 with Classic Shell (faster than Win 7) and no longer ...

Re: Some thoughts about tags in MyInfo

Its been at least 2 years since I posted the above recommendations for improving MyInfo's feature set. I still think that these would be crucial improvments that exist only in very few software applications, but yet would be immensely useful. I'm surprised that other note-taking applications have no...

Re: Roadmap ?

I am really looking forward to a new verison. Though MyInfo is still my #1 tool, my work seems to be hampered by the lack of a proper hierarchical keyword/tag system. The web-clipping tool is still rather weak (compared to InfoQube, UltraRecall, MyBase). A mobile phone app that allows easy import in...
