Petko,
I get External Exception E06D7363 when unprotecting the notebook, followed by backup error: "An error occurred while trying to backup notebook." So, essentially I am not able to unprotect the notebook.
Is there a way to disable backup temporarily?

Backup error (update)
Update : I spoke too soon. External exception E06D7363 do occur and they are occurring almost every minute, which is a major disruption. Just before they appear, a message flashes in the bottom left hand corner: "Compacting <notebook>" so it appears that the exceptions are happening when t...

Selecting a line in text editor
In version 6, it used to be able to select an entire line in the text editor by clicking on the left hand margin. It is useful for re-formatting. In version 7, you have to select it manually by dragging through the entire line. Is it possible to bring back the old way?

Re: Web clipping
I am using v. 7.0.5 and Windows 10, and also have a subscription to the NY Times, but my captures are almost instantaneous. I have had a mixed experience with the aspect ratio of images captured that Jon mentions. Torrey, how do you "capture" an article from the web (for example, NYT as y...

Re: Embedded Documents
Resolved the blank Excel worksheet issue by "repairing" Office 2016. Details of how to do it are here: https://support.office.com/en-us/articl ... b40c5bb88b

Re: Embedded Documents
I deleted the .xls and .xlsx file extensions from the list in Options > Browser. Now, View and Edit links are back. But when I view or edit, only a BLANK Excel worksheet opens.

Re: Location of Embedded Documents
I am experiencing a problem with regard to viewing and editing embedded Excel files. Due to persistent Windows 10 "blue screen of death" presumably caused by a faulty RAM, I replaced the RAM, reformatted my C drive and reinstalled Windows 10 and MyInfo 6. All my data including My Topic fol...

Embedded Documents
Can the default file location for embedded documents (attachments such as Excel spreadsheets) be changed? It's not one of the locations listed under Toos > Options > Save that can be modified? Where are they saved by default? Edit: Ok, I just saw the earlier post discussing "attachments" a...

Re: Problems with USB reliability
Yes, there's a way. Install the portable version in a folder (say, "MyInfo 6 Portable") on your PC and laptop just as you would install it on a USB drive. That is, instead of choosing the USB as your installation location, choose a folder on your hard drive. You can then use it as portable...

Re: Search and replace
Can you replace your line return symbols (\line) with \par and see how it shows up in MI after saving the document in MI?

Re: Program freeze
I tried the link to the NYT web page, and it works fine for me. Am able to paste it in the document tree and view the web document (page) including images in the internal and external browser without issues. The size of the topic is also not an issue as it worked in both smaller and larger (than 144...

Re: Program freeze
It doesn't happen here either. I tried three different ways: CTRL+Win+Q, Edit > Paste, and Insert Web Document. All three works. I am running Windows 10 (latest update) with the latest version of MI.

Re: Tag font
Excuse me for raising this again, but speaking of tags, it would also be helpful to provide some assistance with 'finding' a specific tag in a crowded tag pane. This can be as simple as highlighting and moving the cursor to the matching tag (that starts with the letters) as you type - like in Window...

Re: Generate document from link tag
I must admit that I have been using MI for many years, and I didn't know about this [[ gem. Is it documented anywhere (couldn't find it). Are there other similar possibilities?
