Daly, I use the following settings, which seem similar to the outcome you're seeking.
In Options/Display/Note Editor Appearance:
Font: Bookman Old Style/Regular/11
Background: Hue 40, Sat 240,Lum 237, Red 255, Green 255, Blue 249

Colour Pallet
I would like Tools|Options|Display to have access to the same colour pallet that is available for notebooks and sections. I accept this may not be a useful suggestion, since I know nothing about coding, and the functionality may not appeal to MyInfo users generally. Just a wish-list thing for me.

[fixed] Cannot view PDF in internal browser
Following installation of v7.0.9(6799) I cannot view PDF files (newly imported by "Notes from Files") in the internal browser. PDF files imported in this manner (before 6799) are unaffected and can be viewed as usual.
Has anyone else had this experience or is it just peculiar to my setup?

I have had the same experience for some time. For me, the behaviour arises in the editor with all notebooks and every note: new, old or very old. I support Ivar's request for investigation, although it is not a big issue for me.

I do not have this problem but, from your examples, I can clearly see the difficulty. For font contrast, would it help you to use Segoe UI Semi-bold? This is just a guess on my part, but I hope it will help. I cannot offer any suggestion for you about colours.
