How can we influence ranking of search? (3.51)

Post by arrowman »

Usually ranking of the new search feature is fine. But sometimes when I search for a particular document by its name, it shows up at position 10 in the search results. The documents above it contain the same word in the text.

This happens, for example, with an empty document, which only serve to contain a subtree. For example, I have a document about the software called 'vBulletin' with a subtree with various subdocuments and texts about vBulletin. Naturally, the word 'vBulletin' occurs many times in those documents. But the document on top of this subtree called 'vBulletin' is empty.

Now when I search for vBulletin I get a long list of articles, whereas the node 'vBulletin' that I was looking for is at position 20 or so, way below the fold.

What's the best way to improve the ranking of such a document, preferrably to make it show up at position 1?
